You are so right in this, it's admirable. Hugo does all our cooking, and it's shocking how much waste there is, but it's very difficult to say anything, because he naturally takes it as a criticism!
I'm still going to get him to read this though, some great tips.

Very good advice ,and you may like to try this...next time you have bananas that are just a bit too ripe...
Leave the skins on ,and put them
in the freezer for a couple of hrs or days,
DA DA peel and you have frozen banana ice cream...
    Trust me it works ...!

Great ideas! I've definitely been doing a lot better on not wasting things since Christmas. Apart from a couple of times I've made my packed lunch every day for work and have found that I use up loads of bits that might otherwise go to waste. I do need to get to grips with my store cupboard though. I think there may be duplicates lurking and I could do with more of the staples that you mention to make life easier. My biggest problem is that I sometimes get so bored of cooking for one. Fingers crossed that might change soon!

I loathe throwing food away. Really really hate it. I also don't mind having the same meal on 3 consecutive nights either. The OH made a wonderful bean & pepper lasagne (he made 2 - why waste the heat of the oven..)a few weeks ago which did us for about 3 dinners and a couple of lunches for me!
A tin of mixed beans is good to go with leftovers too and is delicious and very healthy. It can be put with pasta, salad, casseroles - brilliant!
    I like Vanessa's idea for over-ripe 'nana's too.
